Overview

The Hollywood Racks Trike Adapter 1 lets you transport a recumbent tricycle on a compatible Sport Rider hitch rack. This adapter converts the rack’s wheel-tray system to support a trike’s wider track and longer wheelbase — giving adaptive, recumbent, or three-wheel bike owners a simple way to carry a trike without buying a dedicated trike rack.

Compatibility & Capacity

• Supported Bike Type: One recumbent trike (NOT suitable for adult/industrial-style trikes or electric recumbent trikes unless spec matched).
• Max Trike Weight: 60 lb
• Wheelbase Limits (depending on base rack):
  • Standard Sport Rider (HR1000, HR1450, HR1400, HR1450-E, HR1455-E): up to 60″ wheelbase, track width up to 32″
  • Recumbent-spec Sport Rider (HR1000-R, HR1450-R): up to 72″ wheelbase, track width up to 36″
  • Trail Rider (HR200): 40 lb max weight, 60″ wheelbase, 32″ track width (less ideal for heavy or large trikes)
• Track Width (distance between trike wheels): up to 32″ (standard wheel holders) or 36″ (wide-track wheel holders on recumbent-spec rack)

Requirements & Notes

• Adapter is not a standalone rack — must be used in combination with a compatible Sport Rider hitch rack.
• Only compatible with 2″ hitch receivers — do not use with 1¼″ to 2″ adapters or hitch extenders.
• Not intended for adult-industrial trikes or electric recumbent trikes (unless within weight & dimension limits); verify trike specs before purchase.
• For some trikes, the center mast of the base rack may need removal — always check trike wheelbase before ordering.

Hardware & Installation

• Includes adapter tubes, modified wheel holders, and tie-down straps to secure trike wheels safely during transport.
• Installation involves replacing the wheel trays on the Sport Rider rack with the adapter hardware — follow instructions carefully for safe use.
• Does not alter vehicle hitch — mounts to existing rack; reversible setup if you switch back to regular bike transport.
